DEMETRIADES, Barbara Jean (nee Bretti), age 77, of Beavercreek, passed away Sunday April 5, 2026 at Soin Medical Center. She was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Victor and Frances Bretti.

Barbara graduated in 1967 from Fairmont East High School and soon after married a Greek immigrant named John Demetriades, the love of her life. Barbara embraced her husband’s Greek Heritage in every way, becoming quite proficient in preparing Greek Cuisine for friends and family. Professionally, she went on to become a Supervisor at the Montgomery County Welfare Department, retiring after 30 years of service at the age of 49. 
 
For her next act, Barbara perfected the roles of Daughter, Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She cherished time with her family above all else. Each Saturday, she would faithfully embark on Epic "shopping" trips with her mother, Frankie and daughter, Angie, most times coming home empty-handed. Barbara was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a patient and loving Dog Mom to her Maggie, and later Theo. She loved ION TV, playing cards with family, and BINGO, often times returning home with a jackpot and a huge smile. She enjoyed quiet times as well. Most summer days were spent watching deer in her yard and hummingbirds at the feeder, outside her kitchen window.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Victor & Frances Bretti; brothers, Ronnie & John Bretti; sister, Karen Montalto. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John; daughter, Angie (Nick) Bower; son, Yonnie (Maria) Demetriades; grandchildren, Adam (Shannon), Jenna and Abigail Demetriades; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Funeral service 11 AM Thursday, April 16, 2026 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Anthony Cook officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 AM until service time at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Order of AHEPA in Barbara’s memory.
