Charles Lloyd Hogberg, 82, a lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Chuck is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rebecca, their children Amanda and John, and his treasured memories of his late son, Mike.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a generous heart. Chuck was a hardworking family man; pulling double shifts, working weekends, and doing whatever it took to make sure his family was well provided for. Chuck wasn’t just all work and no play as he would do anything to delight his kids from setting off fireworks, catching air over the backroads of Dayton, or driving them to toilet paper the neighbor's trees.
A man of simple joys, Chuck savored a hearty meal, his pup Molly, a stiff rum and coke, his Harley, and exploring the country with Becky by his side. Chuck Hogberg was a one-of-a-kind man: strong, kind, funny, thoughtful, playful and devoted. We have lost a man of great character and an even greater heart, a caring father and husband, and a soul who knew no bounds in his generosity for those he loved. He will be sorely missed but his spirit, love, and wisdom will forever reside in the hearts of all who knew him.
His family will host a gathering to celebrate Chuck's life on Wednesday the 26th. Visitation begins at 2pm and the service will start at 3:30. As you think of Chuck, raise a glass of rum and coke, and remember a man whose strength, kindness, and wicked sense of humor touched the lives of so many.
He'll be missed, but never forgotten.
