NAHUM- PARENTI, Debra Lynn, left this world on June 18, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital.

Debbie was born on March 29th, 1953, to William and Geri Burke in Coshocton, Ohio. She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Esther Zissen and Willie and Pauline (Granny) Burke, parents; William and Geri Burke, husbands; Christopher Johnson and Joseph Parenti, and her beloved pets; Jasper, Bob, Spy, Pupper, Sam, Ludy, Basey, Mickey, and Opey.

She is survived by her two sons; Joseph Nahum and Zachary Johnson, her brother; David (Kathy) Burke, nieces; Rachel and Jessica Burke, aunt; Lynda Sable, first cousins; Shari Sable, Marc Sable, Jayne Kacer, Steve Fondiler, Bradley Fondiler, Jeffery Burke, Kathy Beth Freutel, Alison Burke, Glenn Burke, Jason Burke, Lisa Stark, Barbara Pavlofsky Kohn, and her beloved cats; Isaac and Charlie.

Debbie had many passions but her top 3 were animals, music, and food. She absolutely loved animals. She had the ability to bond with cats and dogs at the shelter that would not bond with anyone else. She truly had a gift. She worked for the Humane Society and found that work to be very fulfilling. She also worked at Jack’s Aquarium for many years and absolutely adored working with all the different animals.

Debbie loved music, especially live music. You would never see her happier and in her element than watching a live band. Specifically, the blues, funk, soul, and R&B. She would tell stories of going to see some of the great local funk bands at various Dayton clubs to then see those acts become some of the countries most popular bands. She also kept up with new bands and was always introducing those to her 2 boys. She was especially proud of her “Mavis for President” shirt that she bought at a Mavis Staples show.

Food was a joy and comfort to Debbie. You would never see a smaller person eat so much. Her favorites, Tuna Madness Sushi from Dorothy Lane Market and “sweet potatus” in any form always made her smile.

She had many friends and touched many people. She brought joy to people in their everyday lives. She was a talker and didn’t hesitate to get to know people at the various places she would frequent in her everyday life. She was known for being sweet, fun, smart, caring, loving, and most of all, a goof.

She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and cats.

We love you Mom, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. You will forever be in our hearts and minds.
