Gilbert, Jerry A. Age 67 of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer on Friday, January 3, 2025. 

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife and devoted caretaker, Debbie Gilbert, daughter Heather Gilbert,  both of Riverside, two stepsons Christopher and Barry (Jodi) Cole, grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kierstyn Cole (Anthony)  great-granddaughter Oakleigh all of Riverside, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Ray Buck, sister Candy Caudill, and his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including his special friends Jamie Vickers and Bryan and Cheryl Layer. He is also survived by his first true love from the age of 12, Sheila Brown. He is preceded in death by his identical twin brother, James A. Gilbert, son Justin A. Gilbert, former wife Robin L. Gilbert, and his parents Freeling and Joan Gilbert. 

Jerry was a lifelong mechanic who retired in 2022 from Serco Inc. after 30 years of service, and also was previously employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a member of the Walter E. Stebbins High School graduating class of 1976 where he was a part of the vocational program. 

Jerry was very loved by many, and will forever be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was known as a kind-hearted, loving, and giving person that never knew a stranger and was a jokester all the way until the very end. His Serco friends all knew him as “grandpa” and he became a grandfather and great-grandfather in his marriage to Debbie. 

Funeral service 1 PM Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel, 5844 Old Troy Pike with Pastor Dan Kincer officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.

We know that Jerry is now in Heaven “door dashing a dollar” and taking care of all of the little babies like he wanted to. 

We will miss you always and forever “punk sissy.” 

Final Interment: Cremation. The family would like to thank everyone for their support during Jerry’s illness.
